Cathedral Pilgrimage – Chrism Liturgy

Each year the parish takes a pilgrimage group to Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Cathedral in Brooklyn, NY for the Liturgy of the Consecration of the Holy Myron and Holy Oils. At this liturgy the Bishop consecrates the oils used for Baptism, Chrismation, and the Anointing of the Sick for the entire Eparchy.

This is the divine, Holy Chrism, foreshadowed by Jacob, as he poured oil on the stone at the house of El.

This is the Holy Chrism, foreshadowed by Moses, when he mixed it with aromatic herbs, perfume, and myrrh, and anointed the holy Ark and its vessels with it.

This is the Holy Chrism, foreshadowed by David, when he was signed and anointed king,

This is the Holy Chrism, foreshadowed by Isaiah the Prophet, when he proclaimed: 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Therefore, he anointed me in order to announce a year pleasing to the Lord.'
